The Transition House located in Penticton provides shelter for up to 14 women and children. It is staffed twenty-four hours per day and offers enhanced security. Residents may stay for up to 30 days while they recover from their crisis and make plans for the future. There is one youth bed for unaccompanied minors.

Outreach Programs (250) 493-4366
All SOWINS Outreach programs offer practical help and support to women. Our staff members understand the special needs of women who have experienced abuse.
Women may access services by calling (250) 493-4366 and asking for an Outreach Worker, or by dropping in at the office at #1021 – 1027 Westminster Ave W, Penticton. Services are by appointment. Support Workers are available Monday to Friday. There is no fee for any outreach service.
The Women’s Outreach program addresses the needs of women who either do not need the residential services of Transition House, or who are not ready to take that step, but who want support in dealing with abuse. It also serves women who require ongoing support after their Transition House stay.
The Mature Women’s program addresses the unique needs of women who are over the age of 50. Individual and group support is offered to help women overcome the effects of abuse.
The Community Outreach program provides support and information to women who are using the Family Law system.
The Children Who Witness Abuse program assists children who come from homes where parents use violence. Children learn to develop safety plans and alternative skills to cope with anger and frustration. VIP (Violence is Preventable) program is available for elementary school children.
The Specialized Employment Services program helps women recognize, understand and overcome the effects of abuse with the ultimate goal of self sufficiency through employment.
