SOWINS’ SAFExst program includes the Drop-In Centre and the Mobile Outreach Van.
The main goal of SAFExst is to support individuals experiencing complex barriers to health and social well-being. We offer harm reduction-based services to support safe practices and overdose prevention, as well as resources for addressing barriers created by experiences of poverty, unsafe or unstable housing, trauma and/or violence, substance use, under-addressed mental health issues, engagement in survival sex work, and individual and systemic marginalization.
Mobile Outreach
The Mobile Outreach Van connects with individuals in South Okanagan communities to support and promote harm reduction practices and overdose prevention. Find more information on Mobile Outreach here.
Drop-in Centre
The Drop-In Centre supports women (inclusive of cis-, trans*, gender diverse, and two-spirit individuals) who are currently engaged in or at risk of engaging in sex work for survival. The Centre provides a safe space to meet basic daily needs (food, laundry, shower, etc.) as well as resources to support women in improving safety, accessing services, and addressing barriers to positive health and social outcomes. Find more information on the Drop-In Centre here.

Thanks to funding by Public Service Canada and the support of our partners in the community.
