SOWINS is seeking dedicated Board Members who want to make a difference in the lives of women, youth, and children in the South Okanagan.
- Being A Board Member of SOWINS means belonging to a supportive reputable charity that works to prevent violence and abuse in our community. Know that your actions can make an impact on the lives of individuals and families.
- Our Board mandate and composition is one of governance. The Board of Directors are all volunteers and has up to 11 community members at one time. The Board ensures integrity and effectiveness of its governance role and processes.
- Board responsibilities include being committed to the mission, values, and work of SOWINS. Your time, talent, and treasure to help end gender-based violence in our community. Attending our Annual General meeting and monthly Board meetings.
- The time commitment required will be between 4-8 hours per month and include a 2-year term commitment. Board members may succeed in their term for up to a total of 8 years.
- To Become a SOWINS Board Member you must first become a member of the Society. Next, you will fill out an application and meet with the Board Chair. A signed non-disclosure is required along with conflict of interest and criminal record check. Once complete, the Board will conduct a vote.
