- Counselling- we provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space to speak about the abuse you have experienced. We consider all factors in our counselling approach and how these factors interact such as biological, psychological, and social factors. We support women with their immediate and historical experience with abuse.
- Safety Planning- We can provide information about increasing your safety whether you choose to stay or leave a relationship and develop a safety plan that explores your options.
- Advocacy Services- We can assist you with understanding your rights. This can take the form of accompanying and supporting you with a stressful meeting with other community agencies.
- Community Information and Referrals- We can provide information about other community programs, and complete referrals with clients when necessary.

Can I access this program if the abuse I experienced wasn’t physical?
Yes. Our counselling supports are available for all forms of abuse, emotional, financial, mental, sexual, or physical. You do not need to have experienced physical abuse to access help.
How much do sessions cost?
Our program is provincially funded, which means there is no cost to you for receiving counselling.
How many sessions can I receive?
We offer short-term counselling, typically 8–10 individual sessions with one of our counsellors.
How long will I have to wait to be connected to a counsellor?
Wait times can vary because we serve clients with diverse needs. While we cannot provide a specific timeline, you are welcome to check in anytime to see your place on the waitlist.
What qualifications do your counsellors have?
Our counselling team brings a variety of education and professional experience, enabling us to provide compassionate, individualized support.
I’ve heard I’ll need to set goals for counselling, but I’m not sure what I want. How does that work?
We help you understand your experiences and identify meaningful goals you want to achieve. Your goals are flexible, and we check in regularly to ensure they continue to support your needs.
If I feel stuck or unsure about therapy, what happens?
It’s normal to feel apprehensive about sharing personal details. We recognize that you are the expert on your own life and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
What happens if I need to cancel or miss a session?
We understand life happens, if you need to cancel an appointment we kindly as that you let us know prior to the start time of your appointment. If a session is missed, we’ll work with you to reschedule. If missed sessions become frequent, we may discuss strategies to help you stay on track, such as reminder calls or consistent scheduling.
Is everything I share in counselling confidential?
Yes. Most of what you share stays between you and your counsellor. Exceptions include situations where we are legally required to break confidentiality:
- If a child is being harmed or is at risk of harm
- If there is an intent to harm yourself or someone identifiable
- If your records are subpoenaed by a court
