Have a Heart Radiothon

Bell Media has chosen SOWINS for this year’s Have a Heart Radiothon

YOU can help women and children in need

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, challenged others, shared our message, and joined us at the 2025 Have a Heart Radiothon at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre.

With the incredible support of our community, GO 97.1, Summit Radio, local businesses, and our generous donors, we surpassed our fundraising goal and raised an incredible $52,006.65 in support of women, youth, and children leaving a life of violence and abuse.

A special thank-you to Scott Niedermayer for taking the time to be with us and inspire our community. His presence brought even more heart to a day already filled with hope and compassion.

You made a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for showing up, speaking out, and giving generously.

A Day to Give, A Chance to Change Lives

Join us alongside GO 97.1 and Summit Radio on Friday, May 30 at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre in Penticton for a powerful day of community and compassion. Together, we’ll raise critical funds for women, youth, and children in the South Okanagan through the Have a Heart Radiothon.

Thanks to our generous community partners, the first $15,000 in donations will be matched. Your support goes twice as far to help women and children escape abuse and rebuild their lives.

Marvin Mizinski

I relocated from Saskatchewan to Vancouver in 1987 and spent the next 30 years building and operating several small businesses—including launching my own financial management services company. Over the years, I’ve worked with startups, well-established retail operations, and consulting firms, providing full-service bookkeeping, accounting, and financial oversight.

Between 2015 and 2016, my stepson played hockey in Penticton, which gave my wife and me the opportunity to visit the area frequently. We quickly fell in love with the community and made the decision to purchase a home here in 2019—a choice that’s become one of our very best.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I have a longstanding commitment to community service. I have been actively involved in organizing and volunteering at squash events, fostering sportsmanship and community engagement. Additionally, I have successfully led fundraising initiatives for various health charities, demonstrating my dedication to supporting vital causes and making a positive impact.

I’m excited to join the SOWINS finance committee and contribute my skills to support the organization’s critical work in the Penticton community.
